INNER PEACE,
INNER JOY (MUSIC CD)
In the music of
'Inner Peace, Inner Joy'
there is a great sense of lightness,
deep calm and joy. The music flows effortlessly, gently soothing,
quietly inviting the listener to let go of any lingering thoughts,
tensions and anxieties. Roy has been much
inspired by the spiritual traditions of the East, and his music is an
expression born out of his own inner journey.
This music may be used to accompany various
therapies, meditation and relaxation. The CD is a
compilation of the best tracks from the 1987 albums: 'Starlight' and
'Inner Peace'. Total CD time is approximately 60 mins.

A soft rhythm
develops and continues throughout, with spacious and melodic soundings
from flute and strings. Inspired by the sudden death of
Roy's father, George Whenary, in 1986. We live only as long as our
next breath arises (originally on the cassette album: STARLIGHT).

HEALING RAIN

The key
instrument here is ‘rainwater’. Waking up in the
early hours one morning to the sound of torrential rain,
Roy immediately reached for his recording
equipment, and the rain sounds became the starting point for this track -
a meditative meandering piece with various soft half melodies that
intersperse with occasional bell sounds (originally on the cassette album:
STARLIGHT).
CIRCLE DANCE

This was
initially inspired by Ravel’s Bolero, but quickly became something else -
a joyful and bouncy piece with various instrumentals and delicate
counter-rhythms. Music for sunny days or for raising the spirits in the
dead of winter (originally on the cassette album: STARLIGHT).
INNER PEACE

A sedate,
meditative, track, written for meditation and reflection. Using an Indian
musical scale, various instrumentals interweave, creating a seductive,
flowing dynamic that pulls one into its depth and vastness (originally the
title track on the cassette album: INNER PEACE).
STARLIGHT
(10:30)
Having been
inspired, since childhood, by the stars and the vastness they represent,
this was Roy's attempt to put stars and
starlight into music ... a gentle cascading flow of sounds, with no melody
and a slow and gentle rhythm. This music is quite ethereal, uplifting and
calming (originally the title track on the cassette album: STARLIGHT).
STAR DANCE

The background
melodic rhythm is derived from a beautiful adagio by Albinoni. A warm,
positive and imaginative dance amongst the stars. Flute and string
instruments interweave their melodies with the basic background melodic
rhythm, to create a magical and expansive piece (originally on the
cassette album: STARLIGHT).
EASE OF BEING
(3:05)
Named after the
book ‘The Ease Of Being’ by Jean Klein. This piece creates a sense of the
naturalness of just ‘Being’, rather than being
this or that. When the mind dominates our lives we become more and more
focused on ‘doing’ rather than ‘Being’ (originally on the cassette album:
STARLIGHT).
CIRCLE OF LIGHT

A light,
ethereal piece with a musical pattern that revolves over and over again,
with a vaguely oriental flavour and an uplifting air. It has a delicate
feel and seemingly invites one to truly relax and go deep into oneself
(originally on the cassette album: INNER PEACE).
